Face to face OU Energy is now been suspended during Covid crisis, but we hope to return to energy event as soon as possible
The International Virtual Conference on Recent Advances in Lithium-ion Batteries (LIBs) and their Recycling Methods for Sustainable Development will take place on 1 – 3 December 2021 at The Open University via Microsoft Teams – organiser: Professor Satheesh Krishnamurthy
On the 7th May 2021, Startupification Podcasts hosts - Steven Drost, Matt Farrugia interviewed William (Bill) Nuttall, Professor of Energy at the Open University, about what the future of low carbon synthetic fuels looks like. They discussed how hydrogen can power the world, how big energy companies need to reposition themselves, what the UK’s legacy will be, and how VC thinking maps to energy
Ben Mestel (The Open University) presents Storage, price and power modelling – the next generation
Abstract. In this talk I will review an augmented differential-equation model of an electric power system, setting the model in the context of standard power-flow modelling. The ode model incorporates conventional generation, storage, wind and solar, with the latter two viewed as exogenous input. Price is a control variable, dynamically varying according to the mismatch between demand and power output. The model is applied to the GB electricity system in the year December 2016 - November 2017. We conclude with a discussion of future enhancements to the modelling framework.
